Sutherland Spaceport hosted a Public Open Day at the Kyle Centre, Tongue, that included a visit to the site. It was a great opportunity for the local community to see progress and to ask questions about the developments at the Spaceport.
The Sutherland Spaceport, set on the A’ Mhoine peninsula in the North of Scotland, is progressing swiftly to become the UK’s first mainland space launch site. Specialising in launching small satellites into polar and sun synchronised orbits, it plays a key role in Earth observations and environmental monitoring.
Committed to sustainability, the spaceport is implementing carbon offsetting, habitat restoration and renewable rocket fuels like bio- propane to reduce its environmental impact. Along with promoting eco-friendly space exploration, it promises economic benefits through job creation and opportunities for local businesses, while inspiring future generations of engineering and space scientists.
